Closed Issue: Investigate Run Command Execute Method [1316]

Identify other methods (similar to the start command) to allow Windows to figure out where/how to run whatever is passed in. For example, one could specify an MP3 file (not the command-line to start the player with the file as a parameter) and High Sign will throw the command at Windows to manage it from there. You can create a shortcut to an MP3 file and Windows will run the associated program when you double-click it, we should emulate the execution aspect of that functionality.

Closed Issue: Fix logic for Previous / Next Application Plugin [1383]

The current logic for the Next / Previous applications plugins was simply doing ALT+TAB (for Next) and ALT+SHIFT+TAB (for Previous). This does not function correctly as the ALT+TAB list only cycles when the ALT key is held during the cycling.

When High Sign is loading, especially when set to start with Windows, the mouse can suffer from apparent sluggishness until High Sign's finished starting up.

Closed Issue: Previous / Next Application Issues when not running as Admin [1385]

The Previous / Next Application plugin doesn't function correctly when not running as administrator. It appears that running in user mode, Windows doesn't grant the same privileges to force windows to the foreground, instead causes flashing taskbar button..

I continued this project in High Sign X which impletemented the early umimplemented functions(shown in Options dialog)

And I also added the Hint function which will show the action description when you are doing the gesture.

High sign is really useful, easy to use and to set. Congratulation to the creator!
But their is a little problem : you can set the actions for "this application" but not for "all programms but this one". It's really annoying for a lot of programms (games, where you use often the right click; painting programms for the same reason...).

Is there an option to configure that? Will it be add for a next patch? Does other software like this one have this capacity?

Rob,

Great job on finishing your application! I read the help section on the site and was blown away by what you've accomplished. I will download it tomorrow and try it out. I've went back to using StrokeIt since the developer updated it to work on Windows 7, but if yours works well (which with your skills as a dev, I'm confident it will) then I'll make the switch. Anyways, very happy to see your application come to fruition. Keep up the awesome progress!

Regarding High Sign being dead, I will respond by saying that the beauty of open-source is that the project never truly dies, but people move on, and eventually someone else picks up where they left off, or they apply the knowledge gained from it to a new project, as is the case with Rob's work. For me, High Sign is no longer being maintained, and I've transitioned to other projects. I hope that High Sign will be seen as a positive contribution to the open-source community, and that in itself is all the satisfaction I require.

HOWEVER, one of the projects I'm working on is a Windows Phone application that incorporates the High Sign recognition engine, and will be available on the marketplace shortly.

Yea, I'd say the project pretty much died out. I joined and did a few things with High Sign, but then I branched off into my own gesture app and I think it kind of drained the energy from High Sign's development =(

However, I have picked up where I left off and have a finished app: http://www.strokesplus.com

It should be noted (as it is in the License.txt file that accompanies my app), that Dylan Vester is the genius behind the gesture recognition algorithm that he created for High Sign and without his work, my app wouldn't exist. The recognition is phenomenal and yet simple at the same time; it blows the doors off any other recognition I've encountered and he deserves mega-kudos!

Rated 3 Stars (out of 5) - Nice piece of soft, thanks for sharing! I think I've some ideas how to get it more usable. 1) MUST HAVE: Let me exclude application. e.g. I've mouse gestures set in Chrome. HighSign disables (overtake) these gestures :( This is the only reason I cannot use HighSign! 2) NICE TO HAVE: When in training mode, ask me only for undefined gestures, otherwise use the already defined gesture.

Trails don't appear - program runs, but Windows 7 acts as if it doesn't exist! Huge bummer - I've come to really depend on this little app. It's going to take me a long time to get used to not having it :-(

I agree with GTForce that there's no compelling reason to have two functional items that are so intertwined be in two different screens. I don't have the solution yet, but it's something that needs to be at least re-evaluated.

If you want to associate a gesture to an action in an application and re-use the same gesture for another action in another application you need to map the two to the same gesture.
The way it works now seems ok to me!
